Rural Rotations

The Department of Family Medicine has an extensive and well established network of rural community training sites. As part of your experience here, you will be expected to do two months of core rural rotations, one in each academic year.

In this section, you will find all the information you will need to help you decide where you want to go and how to go about organizing this part of your training.

Visit our Rural Rotation Practices for site descriptions. Some of the sites are close to Ottawa, and can be considered commutable, however, we strongly encourage you to stay in your rural community, and have funding available to cover the cost of accommodations.

We pride ourselves on having a strong and varied rural program. The sites are visited regularly, and every effort is made to try and ensure that you have a positive rural experience.
